Visit Michigan’s second-largest state park and one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Upper Tahquamenon Falls span 200 feet across with a 50-foot drop. Visit Headlands International Dark Sky Park, located on the western side of Mackinaw City. This county park is open 24 hours a day so visitors can enjoy the wonders of the skies at night; the park was designated a Dark Sky Park by an astronomer association in 2011. Stop by Castle Rock, located 20 minutes north of Mackinaw City in St Ignace. Make the trek up the steps to the lookout point, perched almost 200 feet above ground; the views are incredible! This attraction is the perfect spot to take photos and enjoy the beauty of Lake Huron. You can also browse souvenirs at the gift shop located at the bottom of the attraction.
Shepler’s Ferry opens for the season on April 21 and runs through the end of October, offering shuttle service to Mackinac Island. Tickets are valid for a round-trip. Shepler’s Ferry is located on the eastern edge of Mackinaw City, just a half-mile walk from your door.
